What does Sharesight import from IBKR?

Sharesight's IBKR integration syncs your ongoing buy and sell trades automatically. Here's exactly what is and isn't supported — and what to do if something isn't coming through.

What Sharesight imports

✅ Equities — buy and sell trades only

✅ Trades made within the past 7 days (ongoing sync)

✅ Trades on settlement date (usually 2 business days after trade date)

What Sharesight does not import

❌ Forex trades

❌ Options trades (OPT)

❌ Cash transactions (CASH)

❌ Short selling, shorts, cover trades, or any derivatives

❌ Dividends (see below)

❌ Cash balance

Why aren't my file imports showing OPT or CASH trades?

These transaction types are automatically ignored during import. Sharesight only supports equities buy and sell transactions — OPT (options) and CASH (currency movements) are not imported and will not appear in your portfolio.

Does IBKR import dividends?

No — but you don't need it to. Sharesight automatically populates your dividend history based on your trade history. When you bought a stock, how many shares you hold, and the dividend records are all calculated automatically. There's nothing you need to do.

Will trades import if I set up the integration after the trade date?

Yes, as long as the trade was made within the past 7 days. If the trade falls outside that window, you'll need to import it manually via file upload or add it manually. See Importing historical trades from IBKR.

Do you support trade confirmation?

No — Sharesight does not support IBKR trade confirmation. To sync your ongoing trades, you need to set up the Interactive Brokers Web Services integration. See Setting up your IBKR connection.

No — you can only link one IBKR account to one Sharesight portfolio. Your IBKR account number starts with U followed by 8 digits (e.g. U12345678).

How do I track my IBKR cash balance in Sharesight?

The IBKR integration does not sync cash balances. To track your cash balance, create a cash account in Sharesight (available on paid plans), set an opening balance, sync all future buys, sell, dividends into the cash account.

Note: if you have other transactions in IBKR i.e fees, interest, you need to add them manually into the cash account.
