Import trades via your broker’s trade confirmations

Sharesight can automatically record buy and sell trades in your portfolio using your broker's trade confirmations. This feature is called Trade Confirmation Emails.

How it works

  1. Your broker sends you a trade confirmation email every time you successfully place a buy or sell trade. The transaction detail should be in a PDF file attached to the email or within the email.

  2. Each Sharesight portfolio has a unique email address.

  3. You (or your broker) forward a copy of the trade confirmation email to your portfolio email address.

  4. Sharesight reads and records the trade in your portfolio within 5 minutes. You'll also receive a confirmation email if you enabled notification emails once the trade has been processed.

  5. No more missing records. No more manual data entry nightmare.

Sharesight currently processes over 200 brokers' trade confirmations.

Three ways to forward Trade Confirmation Emails

  1. Your broker sends it on your behalf

  2. Set up email forwarding in your personal inbox

  3. Manually forward from your personal inbox

Your broker sends it on your behalf

The best option out of the three. Some brokers such as Commsec or SelfWealth have the option to send trade confirmations to multiple emails.

How to add your portfolio email address to your brokerage account:

  1. In Sharesight, from any page click on the Settings tab.

  2. Under Connection, click the Trade Confirmation Emails side tab.

  3. Click Copy and paste the email address into your brokerage account.

Contact your broker if you're not sure where to add an additional email address.

Set up email forwarding in your personal inbox

This is the next best option if your broker doesn't have the option to add more than one email address.

How to set up email forwarding in your personal inbox for Gmail, Apple or Outlook:

Gmail

  1. In Sharesight, from any page click on the Settings tab.

  2. Under Connection, click the Trade Confirmation Emails side tab.

  3. Open a Gmail account.

  4. In the top right, click Settings > See all settings.

  5. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  6. In the Forwarding section, click Add a forwarding address.

  7. Copy and paste your portfolio email address.

  8. Click Next > Proceed > OK.

  9. A verification message will be sent to that address. Click the verification link in that message.

  10. Go back to the settings page for the Gmail account you want to forward messages from, and refresh your browser.

  11. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  12. In the Forwarding section, select Forward a copy of incoming mail to.

  13. Choose what you want to happen with the Gmail copy of your emails. We recommend to Keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox.

  14. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

How to locate the verification link in Sharesight:

  1. Open your Sharesight account.

  2. Click on the Settings in the portfolio.

  3. Click Trade Confirmation Emails under Connection.

  4. Click View emails inbox.

  5. You should see a forwarding confirmation email.

  6. Click on the subject title.

  7. Click send me a copy of this email.

Once this is done, you will receive a copy of the confirmation email to your registered email with Sharesight, and you can click on the verification link from there.

Apple

  1. In Sharesight, from any page click on the Settings tab.

  2. Under Connection, click the Trade Confirmation Emails side tab.

  3. Select Copy next to the email address.

  4. In Mail on iCloud.com, click the gear icon at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Settings.

  5. In the General tab, select Forward my email to, then paste the forwarding address in the text field.

  6. Click Done.

Outlook

  1. In Sharesight, from any page click on the Settings tab.

  2. Under Connection, click the Trade Confirmation Emails side tab.

  3. Select Copy next to the email address.

  4. Go to Outlook. At the top of the page, select Settings > View all Outlook settings.

  5. Select Mail > Forwarding.

  6. Select Enable forwarding, enter the forwarding email address, and select Save.

Manually forward from your personal inbox

This is ideal if you don't trade frequently.

How to manually forward from your personal inbox:

  1. In Sharesight, from any page click on the Settings tab.

  2. Under Connection, click the Trade Confirmation Emails side tab.

  3. Select Copy next to the email address.

  4. Open the trade confirmation email in your inbox.

  5. Select Forward.

  6. Paste email address in the To field.

  7. Click send.
