How to connect your Interactive Brokers account
Please note that this connection will only import your ongoing trades.
Setting up the IBKR integration has two parts, and you need to complete both before your trades will sync:
- Part 1: Create the connection – connect your Sharesight account to IBKR using your IBKR token and Query ID.
- Part 2: Link the connection to a portfolio – tell Sharesight which portfolio your IBKR trades should go into.
Important: If you only complete Part 1, no trades will come through to Sharesight.
Part 1: Create the IBKR connection
1 - Get the Web Service details (Token and Query ID) from the Interactive Brokers Portal:
Select Performance & Reports > Third Party Reports > Third-Party Services (gear icon) > Select Sharesight > Save.
Your Token and Query ID will be shown.
2 - Log into your Sharesight account.
3 - Click Account on the top right.
4 - Click Connections > Add Connection.
5 - Set the connection type to Interactive Brokers (Web Service).
6 - Enter the following details:
A) A name for your connection (e.g. IBKR).
B) The Token and Query ID from step 1.
C) Click Create Connection.
You're not done yet: Your connection is set up, but it isn't linked to a portfolio yet. No trades will sync until you complete Part 2 below.
Part 2: Link the connection to your portfolio
1 - Go to the Portfolio Investments page of the portfolio you want your IBKR trades to go into.
2 - Click Settings.
3 - Under Integration, click Interactive Brokers (Web Service).
4 - Select the Connection you created in Part 1.
5 - Enter your Interactive Brokers account ID (e.g. U1234567).
6 - Click Create Integration to complete the setup.
Check your setup is complete
- Your portfolio's Settings page shows Interactive Brokers (Web Service) under Configured integrations in the Integrations section.

- New trades are synced to your Sharesight portfolio twice per day (morning and night). Trades only import once they have reached the settlement date in Interactive Brokers, so they should appear within about a day. Imported trades are shown under View transaction log.
- No trades after a couple of days? Check that you have completed Part 2. Having a connection under Account > Connections isn't enough on its own.
Note: Your IBKR token expires once a year. You'll need to renew it each year before it expires, otherwise your trades will stop coming through to Sharesight. See Renewing your IBKR token for more information.

After importing your portfolio
Now that your portfolio is connected, see What to do after importing your portfolio for next steps.
Is your Interactive Brokers (IBKR) portfolio not matching?
If your Sharesight holdings or quantities don't match what Interactive Brokers shows, this is usually caused by transactions that aren't included in broker data feeds — such as corporate actions, dividend reinvestment, or trades made before switching brokers.
