Secure your Sharesight account with two-factor authentication
At Sharesight, we believe the security of your investment data is important. To help you protect your account, Sharesight supports an additional layer of security called two-factor authentication (2FA). The following article provides some information on 2FA and how to leverage it when logging into Sharesight.
What is 2 factor authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication, also known as 2FA, is an extra layer of security that requires not only a password and username but also a unique token that verifies you as the account owner. Often, this unique token is a code that is sent to your phone via a text, voice call, or mobile app.
How to use 2FA on your Sharesight account
The first step in enabling 2FA for your Sharesight account is to ensure you have a Google account that has been 2-step verified.
If you are new to Sharesight, you can enable 2FA from the very start by using your Google login to sign-up for Sharesight.
Otherwise if you’re an existing Sharesight customer, here’s how to update your settings to use your Google account to sign-in to Sharesight going forward.
Step #1: Go to Account Settings -> My Details:
Step #2: In My Details, click Connect to Google:
Step #3: Once you have connected to Google, check “Only allow sign-in via Google”:

Sharesight takes your security seriously
Signing-into Sharesight using a 2FA-enabled Google account provides an extra layer of security to safeguard your financial data.
Besides using 2FA, these general password tips are really useful ways to protect your data:
- Complex passwords are more secure. Try to use a mix of upper and lower case characters, numbers, and symbols. We recommend using a password that’s at least 8 characters long. Our password strength indicator will give you an idea about how secure your password is.
- Make sure you only enter your password on our secure website. The first part of the website address should read https://portfolio.sharesight.com. Sharesight will never ask you for your password via email or over the phone.
- Only use the ‘Keep me logged in’ function on your own password protected computer, never on a public computer.
