Welcome to the December 2023 edition of Sharesight’s monthly trading snapshot, where we look at the top buy and sell trades by Sharesight users over the month. This month we have combined the snapshots for US stocks (including the Nasdaq, NYSE and AMEX), the ASX and NZX, providing a short summary of the key events for each market. Top 20 US stock trades December 2023

Top 20 NASDAQ NYSE AMEX monthly Dec23

In December’s US snapshot, trades were led by Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), which saw Chinese vehicle registrations soar almost 19%. Trades were closely followed by Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), which was recently dubbed as a ‘top large-cap pick for 2024’.

In December’s ASX snapshot, buy trades were strongly led by Vanguard’s Australian Shares Index ETF (ASX: VAS). In terms of individual stocks, trades were led by Pilbara Minerals (ASX: PLS), which continues to be the stock of choice for ASX short-sellers. Trades were followed by Woodside Energy (ASX: WDS), which is in preliminary talks with Santos over a proposed merger.

In December’s NZX snapshot, trades were strongly led by the Smartshares US 500 ETF (NZX: USF). In terms of individual stocks, trades were led by Infratil (NZX: IFT), which recently announced a reduced dividend payment. Trades were followed by Air NZ (NZX: AIR), which has admitted it expects first-half earnings to be within the lower end of the forecast.
